Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 18, 2023) – The Salt Lake Community College baseball team opened the NJCAA West District baseball tournament in thrilling fashion Thursday, earning a run-rule win.
 
Playing in Nebraska, Salt Lake downed Southeast Community College by a final margin of 13-3, earning a run-rule win to open the NJCAA West District tournament. SLCC hit seven home runs in the game, with Chip Beck hitting three home runs.
 
Beck started Salt Lake's scoring with a solo shot in the first inning, then added a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Beck also hit a solo home run in the sixth inning. Hunter Neumayer added a solo shot in the second inning, then Jaxon Weatherly added a two-run bomb in the fifth inning. Trey McLawhorn and Hunter Neumayer both hit home runs in the seventh inning.
 
Salt Lake will play Pima Community College in a winners' bracket game Friday. The winner will advance to Saturday's championship game.
