Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 21, 2023) – There is a new leader in the Scenic West Athletic Conference baseball clubhouse, and it is the Salt Lake Community College Bruins.
SLCC moved into first place in the Scenic West standings Friday, posting wins of 7-4 and 7-5 over Southern Idaho in a doubleheader at Cate Field. The Bruins are now 22-12 overall and 20-6 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Bruins and Golden Eagles will play another doubleheader Saturday, starting at 12:00 p.m. at Cate Field.
Salt Lake 7, Southern Idaho 4: A four-run fifth inning lifted the Bruins to a win.
Tied at 2-2 in the fifth inning,
Ethan Lamb had a two-run double, followed up by
Trey McLawhorn posted a two-RBI hit to give SLCC a strong lead.
Jordan Pace earned the pitching win, throwing a complete game.
Salt Lake 7, Southern Idaho 5: A late CSI rally fell short in the day's second game.
SLCC built a 7-0 lead midway through the game, then held on against a furious Southern Idaho rally. Salt Lake's
Taylor Ayala had a two-run RBI for the Bruins in the second inning, followed up by
Preston Winget getting an RBI base hit in the fifth inning to up the lead to 4-0.
Trey Gambill and
Daniel Gonzalez both dropped RBI bunts in the sixth inning.
