TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 8, 2023) – The Salt Lake Community College Athletic Department will have a much lighter week of scheduled competition, particularly in comparison to the last few weeks.
SLCC will see its Men's-and-Women's Basketball teams travel for road games, with no other competition taking place in the department. SLCC has home basketball games scheduled next week.

Men's Basketball: A matchup with an in-state foe highlights No. 5 SLCC's schedule this week.
The Bruins will travel to play at Snow College on Thursday, looking for a season sweep of the Badgers. SLCC is currently in second place in the Scenic West standings, looking to hold its grip on a high seed in the upcoming Region 18 tournament.

Kyle Taylor said his team will need to play at a high level to complete the series sweep.
"Snow is a dangerous team with a deep roster of talented players that are all capable of getting it going on any given night," he said. "They have one of the best post players in the country in Zack Visentin, and some good perimeter shooters. Snow is well coached and disciplined, it'll be a tough road game for us."
The Bruins have been full-bore on travel and game preparation the last few weeks, with a one-game week sitting as a nice break in advance of the postseason grind. SLCC will have three games remaining in the regular season after this week.
Taylor noted weeks like this help both players and coaches rejuvenate.
"Rest and time off is the key to keeping our coaching staff fresh through the grind of a long season," he said. "When we have an opportunity to take a day off, not practice and not meet as a staff, we do that. Having a good balance is important to staying sane, staying focused, and being able to work at a high level."
Women's Basketball: With the postseason just a few weeks away, the SLCC Women's Basketball team is focused on maintain its spot in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings.
SLCC is third heading into this week's play, with a game against fourth-place Snow College highlight this week's schedule. The Bruins will face each of the top-five teams in the league standings over the next three weeks.

Marcilina Grayer noted the importance of starting the tough stretch with a win over Snow this week.
"This week we have one game which is against Snow," she stated. "It will be a tough game as we have split with Snow this season."
Besides preparing for the postseason, SLCC's coaches are also focused on building camaraderie in advance of the upcoming postseason grind, said Grayer.
"As a staff, we always find time to laugh and enjoy the small moments," she said. "We also make sure that we go to dinners and lunches, and not talk about work. We just focus on recharging and getting ready for the week ahead."
