Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 3, 2023) – The No. 11 Salt Lake Community College Baseball team picked up its first win of the 2023 season Friday.
 
Playing in the 'Zinger Bat' tournament in Arizona, the Bruins rebounded from a tough start to the season last weekend, earning a split on Friday after losting to Pima and winning over Gateway. The victories lift the Bruins to 1-5 overall.
 
Salt Lake will have a rematch with South Mountain Community College Saturday.
 
Pima 8, Salt Lake 2: An early SLCC lead couldn't withstand a strong game at the plate by Pima.
 
The Bruins took an early 1-0 lead, thanks to a Daniel Gonzalez RBI in the second inning. Pima would then score eight unanswered runs until the seventh inning, when Jack Bluth hit an RBI sacrifice fly. 
 
Salt Lake 7, Gateway 2: Early scoring helped the Bruins to their first win of the season in the day's second game. 
 
A Daniel Gonzalez RBI single helped the Bruins take a 1-0 lead in the first inning, with Salt Lake adding three more runs in the fourth inning with a Jaxon Weatherly two-run double. Jalen Seward had an RBI single in the fifth inning.
