Luster's 39 most for a Bruins since 2018

Box Score

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Friday, December 29, 2023) – CJ Luster exploded for a season-high 39 points in the No. 2 Bruins 89-65 win over Bismarck State College.

SLCC improved to 14-1 with the 24-point win.

Luster made 13-of-19 shots, including 9-of-14 from three in his career-best performance. His nine-made threes bests a performance earlier this season against Laramie County where he hit seven shots from deep.

"He was shooting it in," Bruins head coach Kyle Taylor said following the win. "It was fun to watch! He came ready to play and put on a show. We need him today. He carried us."

Luster's 39 points are the most by a Bruin in a single game since Cameron Mack scored 40 at Casper College on November 9, 2018. Hunter Erickson made nine threes and scored 37 points against North Platte CC on November 11 last season.

Former Woods Cross Wildcat Mason Bendinger came off the bench to score 11 points for a Salt Lake team that finished with 17 assists against just three turnovers.

Salt Lake wraps up the Aztec Classic against Cochise College on Saturday, December 30. Tip-off is scheduled for noon (MT).

SLCC begins SWAC play on January 10 against the College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles. Find tickets for all Salt Lake Community College home events here
