Men's Soccer: The No. 2 Bruins continue to roll through Scenic West Athletic Conference play, although they will face a mix of competition this week.
SLCC will play at Truckee Meadows Community College on Wednesday, then will return home for a match on Saturday against Colorado Northwestern. The Bruins are currently 4-0 in Scenic West play.
Volleyball: SLCC is up to No. 3 in the latest NJCAA rankings, thanks to an impressive 3-1 win over then-No. 3 Snow College.
The Bruins will face a week of mixed competition, playing at Scenic West rival Southern Idaho on Wednesday. Salt Lake will then host a non-conference match against longtime regional power Central Wyoming on Friday.
SLCC coach
Shay Goulding Meurer said the upcoming week will provide a good mix of challenges for her team.
"We will have our hands full this week," she said. "Both opponents this week are much stronger than their records may reflect. The College of Southern Idaho has all the pieces to be very good, and when they put it all together, they are a solid team that would like nothing more than to beat us. In addition to that, their gym pulls a great and rowdy crowd; we will have to bring our best.
Central Wyoming is No. 11 in the country and has purposely played a very tough preseason schedule and is battle ready. They've played several five-set matches this season already with very tough teams, including an earlier five-set loss to us and a five-set win over #5 Miami Dade, and another big win this past weekend against #7 Western Nebraska. They would like nothing more than to beat us, and they are hungry and we will not take that match lightly."
Women's Soccer: Salt Lake continues to roll forward, carrying its No. 4 ranking into a full weekend of Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Bruins will face a full weekend of competition, traveling to play its first match at Truckee Meadows on Wednesday. SLCC will return home for a matchup with Colorado Northwestern on Saturday. Salt Lake and the Lady Spartans played a close matchup earlier this season, earning a narrow 1-0 win in the final minutes.
