Clarksville, TENNESSEE- No. 7 seed Salt Lake won their first match in the 2025 National Tournament as they defeated No. 10 seed New Mexico Military Institute in four close sets.
The Bruins won the first set 30-28 and the second set 25-23. Then NMMI won the third set 23-25, but ten attacking errors in the fourth set by the Broncos helped Salt Lake close out the match 25-20 in set four.
Ryen Smith and Cameron Zajer both recorded 15 kills to lead SLCC. Shaylee Dahle followed with nine kills and the middle blocker had eight of the Bruins 24 block assists.
Libero Daxlyn Gammell had 23 digs and Havi Montano had 21 digs for Salt Lake. Setter Myka Christensen had 35 assists and five kills.
The Bruins as a team had six service aces, but 18 service errors. Salt Lake has now won 19 of their last 20 matches.

Salt Lake will play No. 2 seed Weatherford College at 4:00pm CST on Thursday November 20th. The 2025 NJCAA Tournament is in Clarksville, Tennessee on the campus of Austin Peay University.
