Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 13, 2022) – Nine innings is all that separates the No. 11 Salt Lake Community College Baseball team from a Region 18 championship.

The Bruins posted a 6-4 win over rival Southern Idaho in the Region 18 semifinals at Cate Field Friday, never trailing in the victory. SLCC moved to 44-8 overall with the win, advancing to the Region 18 championship game for the second consecutive season.

Salt Lake started the game well, taking a 1-0 lead after a
Braden Winget walk scored
Karson Bodily in the first inning. SLCC added to the advantage in the fourth inning as
Bruer Webster hit a two-run single to lift the Bruins to a 3-0 advantage.
Chase Taylor added an RBI single in the fifth inning for SLCC to up the lead to 5-0.Â

Things got interesting in the later innings as Southern Idaho went on a scoring run, scoring runs in the sixth and seventh innings to cut the SLCC lead to 6-2. CSI posted a pair of runs in the eighth inning to trim the SLCC advantage to 6-4, with the rally ultimately falling short in the ninth inning as
Jordan Pace closed out the game on a called strike.
Derik Eaquinto earned the pitching victory.Â

Salt Lake will play its championship game against either Southern Nevada, Southern Idaho or Colorado Northwestern on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. for the Region 18 championship. An 'if' game would take place 30 minutes after the first game if the Bruins were to fall.
