TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 9, 2022) – A slew of momentum is powering the sails of the Salt Lake Community College Athletic Department right now.

With both SLCC's Baseball-and-Softball programs currently riding strong performances in the opening weekend of Scenic West Athletic Conference games, momentum is a tangible thing. From here is where the Bruins will look to build on that outcome, with SLCC hosting series at both Cate Field and Norma Carr Field throughout the weekend and early next week.

Baseball: The SLCC Baseball team made a statement in the opening weekend of Scenic West play, with the Bruins looking to add to the magic in Week Two.

Salt Lake will host Colorado Northwestern in a four-game series, starting Friday with a single-header and then moving on to a doubleheader on Saturday. All games will be played at Cate Field.

Softball: The Bruins finished with a winning record on the road last week at USU Eastern, and will return home with momentum this week for a series against Colorado Northwestern.

SLCC will host a four-game series against CNCC, hosting doubleheaders on both Monday and Tuesday of next week. The Bruins are currently in second place in the Scenic West standings, sitting behind Southern Idaho and Southern Nevada.

Salt Lake coach Cyndee Bennett said her team is looking forward to finally playing at Norma Carr Field.

"CNCC is a much-improved team," she said. "We are excited for the challenge."

After a successful-yet-incomplete weekend at USU Eastern last weekend, Bennett said her team is focused on improving fundamentals.

"We just need to keep getting better," she said. "We need to shore up our defense and keep getting at bats and for our hitters."
