The No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team picked up its third major goal of the season on Saturday, thanks to an 89-80 win over Cochise College in the NJCAA West District championship game. The victory boosts SLCC to 31-1 overall, assuring the Bruins an automatic berth into the upcoming NJCAA National Tournament.

Kyle Taylor said the victory was an important one for his team.
"We battled through a lot of adversity tonight, which was good for us to experience and overcome," he said. "Cochise was fantastic; they were really good. They are tough, competed hard and made a ton of plays. It was a great game for the West District Championship."
In a back-and-forth game, SLCC held a narrow 46-43 lead at halftime. The Bruins were led in scoring by
Jordan Brinson, who posted 25 points in the win.
Quincy McGriff finished with 19 points, while
Doctor Bradley scored 12 points.
Salt Lake will now await its seed in the upcoming NJCAA tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., with the 'NJCAA Selection Show' scheduled for Sunday. This is the second time in three years Taylor has led the Bruins to the NJCAA tournament.
