TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 18, 2022) - Few journeys in life come down to a final moment, but the end is coming tomorrow for the No. 1 Salt Lake Community College Men's Basketball team, regardless of outcome. 

The Bruins will play just one more game in the 2021-22 season, with SLCC advancing to Saturday's NJCAA championship game thanks to a 70-68 win over No. 5 Chipola College. Salt Lake has earned each of its wins in the NJCAA tournament by a single possession, moving to 3-0 in the NJCAA Division-I Men's Basketball Tournament.

In a game that went back-and-forth, SLCC held a narrow 36-33 lead at halftime over Chipola. The Bruins upped the lead to eight points - 62-54 - after a Jaxon Pollard three-point shot midway through the second half. Chipola came rushing back though, taking a 68-66 lead with 1:02 left.

Enter SLCC's Jaquan Scott, who took over the game in the final minute. Scott first hit a jump shot with :43 to tie the game at 68-68, then Scott hit a pair of free throws with just seconds left to send the Bruins to their first NJCAA title game since 2016.

Quincy McGriff led Salt Lake with 19 points, while Scott posted 14 points. Max Watson had 13 points and Brinson had 10 points.

Salt Lake will play for its third NJCAA title on Saturday, playing at 5:00 p.m. MDT in Hutchinson, Kan. The game is available for streaming on the NJCAA Network, along with social media updates via the SLCC Athletics Twitter account.
