Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 2, 2022) – A home preseason tournament opened in a victory for the No. 14 Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball tournament.
 
Facing Northwest College in the opening game of the 'Bruin Classic', SLCC posted a 70-50 victory to move to 7-0 overall. Salt Lake took a large halftime lead, posting a 44-28 advantage, and never looking back.
 
SLCC's defense was stout throughout the game, limiting Northwest to just 30.9 percent shooting and just 4-of-21 three-point range. Northwest also committed 17 turnovers.
 
Jamia Carter scored 15 points to lead the Bruins, while Finau Tonga posted 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Aminata Diakite finished with 11 points. 
 
Salt Lake will play Central Wyoming at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
