Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 25, 2021) – The final Scenic West Athletic Conference homestand of the season started Thursday for the Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team, with the Bruins earning a strong win.
SLCC downed USU Eastern, 78-48, starting strong and finishing off another victory over their in-state rival. The victory boosts Salt Lake to 15-4 overall and 10-4 in Scenic West play.
A strong first-quarter sent SLCC to an advantage that was hard to relinquish, with the Bruins taking a 19-5 lead after the first quarter and a 42-19 halftime lead. Salt Lake limited USU Eastern to just 27.3 percent shooting (15-of-55) and held a 26-12 edge in points-off-turnovers.
Naelle Bernard scored a team-high 19 points for the Bruins, finishing 8-of-14 from the field.
Awa Sidibe scored 18 points, while
Aminata Diakite posted 16 points.
Leilani Augmon was SLCC's other double-digit scorer, finishing with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Salt Lake will close the season with a game against Southern Idaho Saturday. The game, which is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start, will feature a celebration of SLCC's sophomore players.
