Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 31, 2021) - The Salt Lake Community College baseball team closed out a weekend tournament in Southern Nevada with a doubleheader split on Sunday.

The Bruins split games of a doubleheader at the College of Southern Nevada, falling 15-6 in game one to the College of Southern Idaho and then earning a 15-3 victory over host Southern Nevada in game two. The day's game post SLCC's overall record at 1-3 to start the season.

Salt Lake will return to the field on March 4 for the Scenic West Athletic Conference opening series against Colorado Northwestern Community College. The two teams will play a four-game series at Cate Field.

Salt Lake 15, Southern Nevada 3: A strong offensive performance lifted Salt Lake to the win over No. 20 Southern Nevada in the nightcap of the tournament.

Trailing 2-1 in the third inning, SLCC's Dalton Hodge hit an RBI triple to tie the game, later scoring on a wild pitch. The Bruins scored three more runs in the fourth inning, loading the bases and then walking in several runs. Other noteworthy at-bats included Sean Keating's two-run double in the seventh inning and a John Taylor two-run single in the sixth inning. 

Keating finished the game going 3-of-4 at the plate, scoring two runs and batting two runs home. Taylor had a 3-of-6 performance and led the Bruins with three RBI's. Fynn Chester picked up the pitching win for Salt Lake, throwing five innings and surrendering just two runs while striking out five batters. 

Southern Idaho 15, Salt Lake 6: A fast start for the Golden Eagles lifted them to a big win over the Bruins in the day's first game.
