No. 18 SLCC Baseball returns to diamond in Southern Idaho series

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 4, 2020) - The No. 18 Salt Lake Community College baseball team started the Scenic West Athletic Conference season off with a bang last weekend, sweeping Colorado Northwestern on the way to a perfect 4-0 league start.

The Bruins have done everything right to this point in the season, playing their way to a 17-3 overall record and an ever-increasing national ranking. Now the team will look to continue its early march through the Scenic West, traveling to play its first road series at the College of Southern Idaho this weekend.

SLCC coach D.G. Nelson said his team's mindset is in a good place moving forward into the second weekend of league play.

Southern Idaho is 8-9 on the season after starting Scenic West play 0-4 last weekend. The Golden Eagles were swept in the league's opening weekend by Southern Nevada, falling by run-rule decisions in two of the games. CSI had won five-straight games prior to the start of league play.

Salt Lake's series with Southern Idaho will start on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. with a single game. The duo will play a doubleheader on Friday, starting at 12:00 p.m., with a Saturday game at 11:00 a.m.
