SLCC Baseball falls in 'Zinger Bat Invitational' championship game

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 9, 2020) - The Salt Lake Community College baseball team fell in the championship game of the 'Zinger Bat Invitational' tourney on Sunday.

Playing at the spring training facility of the Chicago Cubs, SLCC fell 11-3 to Yavapai College in the championship game, falling behind early. Salt Lake fell to 5-3 with the loss.

Yavapai took an early 4-0 lead, flexing their offensive muscle. The Bruins scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning, cutting into the deficit before Yavapai posted two more runs in the sixth inning to take a 6-2 lead. Yavapai posted four more runs in the seventh inning to finish the game off.

Gabe Singer finished the game going 2-of-2 with an RBI, also getting two walks. Sean Keating had a triple in the game, going 1-of-4 at the plate.

Salt Lake will play in a tournament hosted by the College of Southern Nevada this weekend.
