Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 7, 2020) – The Salt Lake Community College baseball team opened the 2020 'Zinger Bat Invitational' with a strong win against Gateway College.
The Bruins earned the 8-1 win over Gateway, opening a four-game tournament played in Phoenix over the weekend. Salt Lake's overall record is now 3-2 with the win.
SLCC earned an impressive game one victory thanks to timely hitting and dominant pitching. The Bruins posted a run in the second inning, with four runs in the third inning to take a commanding 5-0 lead. SLCC added two runs in the sixth inning and a single run in the seventh inning. Jake Wilson finished the game with the victory, throwing five innings of three-hit ball while surrendering no runs.
Offensively,
Jake Herman was 3-of-4 with a triple, a double, and a trio of RBI's.
Salt Lake will play South Mountain at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and against Central Arizona at 2:00 p.m.
