Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 21, 2020) – The Salt Lake Community College baseball team continued its strong start to the 2020 preseason, earning a doubleheader sweep in its home-opening weekend on Friday.

The Bruins earned a pair of wins over Treasure Valley Community College, downing TVCC by scores of 8-0 in game one and 20-1 in game two. The wins boost Salt Lake's overall record to 11-3.

SLCC will play another doubleheader against Treasure Valley on Saturday at Cate Field. The day's first game will start at 12:00 p.m. The Bruins will start Scenic West Athletic Conference play on Feb. 27 against Colorado Northwestern Community College.

Salt Lake 8, Treasure Valley 0: A few big innings helped the Bruins power to the win in the day's opening game.

Behind a strong pitching performance by
Breck Eichelberger, Salt Lake's offense posted four runs in the fourth inning to take a lead it would never relinquish.
Cole Gambill had a monster performance at the plate, going 2-of-3 with a double, a triple and a trio of RBI's.
Travis Johnson went 1-of-2 with a home run, while
Cade Perkins finished 3-of-3 at the plate.

Cole Eichelberger threw six innings in the win, striking out nine batters and finishing with three hits.Â

Salt Lake 20, Treasure Valley 1: The Bruins put on an offensive clinic in game two, scoring four runs in the first inning and never looking back.

SLCC held a 12-0 lead after the third inning, part of an offensive performance that saw them post 18 hits in the game.
Thomas Grilli helped lead the way, going 3-of-4 with 4 RBI's in the win. Salt Lake had five different players finish with multi-hit games.

Jason James earned the pitching victory, finishing with 6 strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work.Â
