No. 13 SLCC Men's Basketball travels to face longtime rival Southern Idaho Saturday

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 30, 2020) - The No. 13 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team is sitting exactly where it wanted midway through the Scenic West Athletic Conference season.

Now the Bruins will head out on the road for a contest with a longtime league rival, taking a 6-0 mark and a 20-4 overall record to face off against the College of Southern Idaho this upcoming weekend. Salt Lake, who earned strong wins over in-state rivals Snow and Colorado Northwestern last week, previously earned an 84-71 victory over CSI back on Jan. 9, setting up the potential for a thrilling matchup this weekend.

SLCC coach Kyle Taylor said his team is well aware of the challenge and opportunity that lies ahead of them this weekend.

"This is rivalry week for us, and in rivalry games anything can happen," he said. "Twin Falls has always and will always be a tough place to play. It's another single game week for us, with CSI on Saturday. It's a big game for our team and we need to get ourselves prepared to play at a high level on Saturday. CSI executes their offense very well in the half court and Mike Hood is dynamic. It should be a good test for us."

Southern Idaho is just 2-4 in Scenic West play, coming off two consecutive losses. The Golden Eagles will play Colorado Northwestern on Thursday in Twin Falls, hosting Salt Lake on Saturday.

The Bruins and Golden Eagles will tip off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday in Twin Falls. Salt Lake will return home on February 6 for a game against USU Eastern and then on to a Feb. 8 matchup with Colorado Northwestern.
