TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 22, 2020) – The No. 20 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team will open the second segment of Scenic West Athletic Conference play on Thursday, propelling into a matchup with longtime in-state rival Snow College.
Â
The Bruins will play a pair of Scenic West games this weekend, playing Snow at home before traveling to face off against Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday. SLCC already has a two-game lead in the standings over Southern Idaho and Snow, who are tied for second place at 2-2.
Â
Bruins coach
Kyle Taylor said his team is looking forward to the challenges that await them in starting the second run through league play.
Â
"Every week in the Scenic West is a big week," he said. "This week, we have a very talented Snow team at home and then have to go to CNCC, who beat Southern Idaho at home a couple weeks ago, so you know they are plenty good enough to beat you.
"For us, we have to keep focusing on getting better. The second round of conference will be much more difficult than round one. Teams know your personnel and we are spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to beat you. We need to focus and come ready to play."
Â
Snow had an up-and-down start to the league season, going 2-2 with wins over USU Eastern and Colorado Northwestern and losses to Salt Lake and Southern Idaho. On Jan. 11, SLCC earned an 81-72 victory over the Badgers in Ephraim. CNCC is just 1-3 in Scenic West play, with a lone win over Southern Idaho. The Spartans fell to Salt Lake in the conference opener, losing 109-83.
Â
Salt Lake will play Snow College at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday inside the Lifetime Activities Center, followed up with a 3:00 p.m. game on Saturday against CNCC.
