SLCC Men's Basketball signs San Francisco transfer

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (August 12, 2019) – The Salt Lake Community College men's basketball program has signed another NCAA Division I transfer.

Monday, SLCC coach Kyle Taylor announced the signing of Dylan Belquist, a California guard who previously redshirted at the University of San Francisco in the West Coast Conference. Belquist also grew up in the Bay Area.

Taylor said Belquist's signing presented a rare reconnection in the signing process.

"Dylan is a fun one for me since we recruited him when I was at Utah State," he said. "I got to know Dylan, (Los Gatos coach) Jamon Osby and his family two years ago, so when we heard he was leaving USF it was an easy decision for us."

After signing a variety of different positions throughout the recruiting period, it is a a benefit for the Bruins to sign another wing with length such as Belquist has. The Los Gatos, Calif., native, who will play as a redshirt freshman, is a 6'7" combo guard.

"Dylan is a tremendous shooter with great length," Taylor said. "He is an active rebounder who plays really hard, makes good decisions and fits in really well with both our style of play and culture. We are looking forward to getting Dylan on campus at SLCC in the next few weeks."

Belquist said Salt Lake Community College was an easy signing as the program presented a complete package.

"I thought it was a good fit for me because I really liked and felt comfortable with the coaching staff and I want to compete for a national championship," he said.

Salt Lake finished the 2018-19 season with a 20-9 record and a mark of 7-5 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. The Bruins have won two national championships (2009 and 2016) and have won at least 20-games for 17 consecutive seasons.
