Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 10, 2019) - The Salt Lake Community College baseball saw its season end on Friday with two losses in the Region 18 tournament in the Las Vegas Valley.
After picking up a momentum-building win on Thursday to open the tournament, SLCC fell in two games Friday, falling 8-0 to Southern Nevada in a winners' bracket game and 21-9 to Southern Idaho in a nightcap game. Salt Lake finished the season going 37-12.
Southern Nevada 8, Salt Lake 0: Tied at 0-0 midway through the game, Southern Nevada scored a flurry of runs late to pick up the victory.
Both teams were scoreless through the fourth inning before Southern Nevada scored four runs in the fifth inning and four runs in the seventh inning, eventually earning a run-rule victory. The Bruins had only four hits in the game, picking up five walks as well.Â
Salt Lake had its best scoring opportunities in the fourth inning, moving runners to second and third base with two outs.
Colton Moore struck out swinging to end the inning, part of five CSN strikeouts.
SLCC's
Jake Wilson took the pitching loss, surrendering three earned runs and seven hits.
Brady Brook finished 2-of-3 in the game.Â
Southern Idaho 21, Salt Lake 9: The Golden Eagles scored consistently throughout the game.
It was Salt Lake who held an early 3-1 lead before Southern Idaho propelled back, taking a 4-3 lead in the third inning and never looking back. Leading 8-4 entering the sixth inning, CSI scored 13 unanswered runs to run away with the victory.Â
Salt Lake mustered five runs in the sixth inning, providing to be too late.
Cole Gambill finished 2-of-4 at the plate with five RBI's. Southern Idaho had 21 hits compared to SLCC's 5 hits.Â
