No. 18 Bruins sweep doubleheader, finish series sweep of ISU club team

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 23, 2019) - The spring temperatures continue to fluctuate around the Wasatch Front but the No. 18 Salt Lake Community College baseball team continues to stay red-hot.

The Bruins run-ruled the Idaho State University club program in two more games on Saturday, earning a series sweep of the Bengals with 13-3 and 15-1 victories at Cate Field in West Jordan. The wins push Salt Lake's overall record to 22-4 and continues a 22-game winning streak for the SLCC program.

Salt Lake will play a critical Scenic West showdown next week as they host the College of Southern Nevada for a four-game series at Cate Field. The series will feature doubleheaders on both Friday and Saturday. Friday's doubleheader will begin at 1:00 p.m. 

Salt Lake 13, Idaho State 3: Another offensive romp led to another run-rule victory for the Bruins.

It was the Bengals who took a 3-1 lead after the top of the third inning but Salt Lake responded with 7 runs in the bottom half, leaving no doubt in the victory. The titanic inning was driven by 8 SLCC hits, including 6 extra-base hits. Brody Colledge, Jaxson Otis and Colton Moore all had triples in the inning.

SLCC added five more runs in the next inning, driving them to a 13-3 lead entering the fifth inning. RJ Hazen then closed out the Bengals in order, giving Salt Lake the run-rule victory.

Colledge finished a perfect 3-of-3 at the plate with 2 RBI's, while Cole Gambill went 3-of-4 with 2 RBI's. Jake Wilson earned the victory on the mound, throwing 3.1 innings while allowed 3 earned runs. Hazen pitched a hitless 1.2 innings. 

Salt Lake 15, Idaho State 1: SLCC jumped on ISU early, leaving no doubt in the final outcome.

The Bruins scored six runs in both the third and fourth innings, with Jace Henderson's two-run home run in the fourth inning punctuating the run. The Bruins finished with 15 hits in the game and had 7 extra-base hits including 2 home runs. 

Bradley Morgan started the game for Salt Lake, pitching four scoreless innings to earn the win.
