Box Score 3 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 15, 2019) - A return to the diamond did wonders for the Salt Lake Community College baseball team.
The Bruins returned to the field to take on the Utah State University club team Friday, playing at Brigham Young University's Larry H. Miller Field due to weather conditions that made Cate Field unplayable. SLCC also canceled games earlier in the week against Prairie Baseball Academy thanks to the weather.
Salt Lake did make the most of its opportunities on the field Friday, sweeping the Aggies 12-5, 21-0, and 11-0 to move to 3-4 on the season. The Bruins outscored Utah State 44-5 in the day's tripleheader.Â
Salt Lake will play its next scheduled games on Feb. 22 against Treasure Valley Community College.Â
Salt Lake 12, Utah State 5: SLCC powered to the win, posting nine hits and leading big from the start.
The Bruins led 7-0 after the third inning, thanks to a
Tyler Dean RBI triple in the first inning and a three-run home run by
Tanner Argyle in the second inning.
Cole Gambill hit an RBI double in the sixth inning, scoring
Brady Brook.
Cal Beardsley started the game for the Bruins, earning the win in the seven-inning matchup.Â
Salt Lake 21, Utah State 0: A
Brady Brook two-RBI single early helped push the Bruins to the impressive victory.
Gabe Singer's first college RBI in the third inning, hitting a two-RBI single to give SLCC a 6-0 lead after the third inning. Then, with the SLCC offense humming, Salt Lake posted 12 runs in the fourth inning to take a sharp lead.Â

Jake Dygert and
Jacob Stauffer all pitched in the victory. SLCC's pitching limited Utah State to just 3 hits in the game.Â
Salt Lake 11, Utah State 0: Another impressive combination of hitting and pitching led Salt Lake to a dominant victory over the Aggies.
Gabe Singer had two RBI's on a single in the second inning to give SLCC an early lead. The Bruins erupted for 5 runs in the fourth inning as
Kru Flint hit a two-RBI triple to extend the Salt Lake lead to 9-0. The day's most disappointing moment came as the Bruins loaded the bases and didn't score.Â
