Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 26, 2019) - A night filled with offensive struggles saw the No. 21 Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team fall at No. 20 Snow College Saturday.
The Badgers downed the Bruins, 108-88, jumping out to a 55-27 halftime lead. Salt Lake made just 1-of-13 three-point shots in the first half, shooting just 41.3 percent from the field in the game.
"(Snow) shot the heck out of the ball tonight," said Bruins coach
Todd Phillips. "I give their team a lot of credit."
Snow did start the game on fire, shooting 60.8 percent in the first half (20-of-33) and making 11-of-20 three-point shots. In stark contrast, Salt Lake couldn't get into an offensive rhythm in the opening period, making just 8-of-34 attempts from the field.
Salt Lake did outscore Snow in the second half, 61-53, but the attempt was too little to overcome Snow's strong performance. The Badgers would stretch the lead to 37 points midway through the second half.
In spite of the offensive struggles early, five different Bruins finished in double-figures with St. John's commit
Cameron Mack leading the team with 16 points.
Josh Colon scored 12 points, while
Asa McCord posted a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Hunter Schofield also had 11 points and
Aaron Burt had 10 points.
The loss drops Salt Lake's overall record to 16-6 and just 3-3 in league play.
SLCC will play its next game on Thursday, traveling to play in-state rival USU Eastern. The Bruins will return home Saturday for a matchup against the College of Southern Idaho.Â
