Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 24, 2019) - The No. 15 Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team entered Thursday's Scenic West Athletic Conference game with Colorado Northwestern Community College looking to make a statement.
Statement made, with the Bruins stretching their winning streak to four games and moving to a perfect 7-0 inside the Lifetime Activities Center with an impressive 88-34 victory over the Spartans. The win lifts SLCC's overall record to 18-3 and a league-best 4-1 in the Scenic West.

Betsy Specketer said she was impressed with the team-focused element of the victory.
"I thought our energy to start the game was really good, especially on the defensive end," she said. "We were able to get several stops that led to transition buckets. It was good to get everyone in the scoring column."
To call the Salt Lake victory dominant would almost be an understatement, with the Bruins holding a 26-3 lead after the first quarter and leading by as many as 57 points in the game. The Bruins took the lead just 20 seconds into the game and never relinquished it, holding CNCC to just 1-of-11 shooting in the first quarter. Salt Lake opened the game on a 25-0 run.Â
SLCC beat up CNCC defensively, forcing 26 turnovers and scoring 37 points off those turnovers. The Bruins limited the Spartans to a shooting percentage of 21.6 percent (11-of-51) overall, while holding CNCC to a sterling 11.1 percent from three-point range (2-of-11).
Lauren Gustin continued her double-double streak for Salt Lake, finishing with 22 points and 13 rebounds on 11-of-15 shooting.
Laura Pichot had a career-high of 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while
Miki'ala Maio and
Kayla Anderson scored 11 points apiece.
The Bruins will play an important in-state rivalry game Saturday as they travel to take on Snow College. The road game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. in Ephraim. Salt Lake's next home game is scheduled for February 2 against the College of Southern Idaho.Â
