Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (September 7, 2018) - Things just keep moving along for the No. 5 Salt Lake Community College volleyball program.
The Bruins, who are competing in a tournament hosted by the College of Southern Idaho, picked up a pair of Friday wins, stretching the program's record to open the season to 11-0. Salt Lake defeated Southwestern Oregon Community College 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-19) and Treasure Valley Community College by a 3-0 score (25-11, 25-18, 25-17).
Salt Lake will play two more matches in the tourney on Saturday, with a 9:00 a.m. match against Northwest College and a 1:00 p.m. match against Casper College. The Bruins have already defeated Northwest College this season, beating them 3-0 in a season-opening tournament.
Salt Lake 3, Southwestern Oregon 0: SLCCÂ rolled to an easy morning victory over Southwestern Oregon, opening the tournament on a positive note.
The Bruins controlled the match offensively, posting 37 kills with a hitting percentage of .487.
Ryley Daniel,
Ariane Pola and Kaya Elliott all posted five kills in the match, with
Hellen Lacava following up with four kills.
Seville Likes led the team with three aces.
Bruna Correa led Salt Lake with 25 assists, while reigning SWAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week
Callie Whitney posted 18 digs.Â
Salt Lake 3, Treasure Valley 0: The Bruins rolled to a big win over Treasure Valley, with the match never being in question.
Pola led Salt Lake with 6 kills, as SLCC posted a hitting percentage of .209. Daniel and Lacava each finished with 5 kills.
