Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (April 5, 2018) - The Salt Lake Community College Bruins have been riding a wave of baseball momentum.
Salt Lake, riding a five-game winning streak, opened a series with Scenic West Athletic Conference-leader College of Southern Idaho with a cup full of momentum. The Bruins extended that momentum, earning a series-opening win, 8-3, before falling in the doubleheader finale.
SLCC will host Southern Idaho in a doubleheader Friday that will conclude the series. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
Salt Lake 8, Southern Idaho 3: The Bruins took an early lead and then never relented in a win over the league's top team.
After a
Damian Henderson RBI double in the first inning, the Bruins scored four times in the second inning.
Colton Moore had an RBI single, then
Brady Brook scored on a balk. A
Nick Seginowich scored Moore before Henderson had another RBI double.
Henderson had an RBI in the fourth inning on a fielder's choice, with Moore scoring on a
Payton Freeman fielder's choice later in the inning. Henderson finished with three RBI's, going 2-of-4 at the plate. Moore scored three runs.
SLCC pitcher
Ben Weese earned the victory, throwing six innings of two-run ball. Weese threw five strikeouts while surrendering just one earned run.
Southern Idaho 9, Salt Lake 2: The Golden Eagles scored six runs in the top of the eighth inning, powering to the doubleheader split over Salt Lake.
Salt Lake opened the game with a 2-0 lead, thanks to a
Damian Henderson RBI double. Southern Idaho took a 3-2 lead in the seventh inning before utilizing several extra-base hits to erupt on the scoreboard in the eighth inning.

Alex Johnson finished by going 3-of-4 in the game, with Henderson going 2-of-4.
