Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 20, 2018) - Coming off a ten-day layoff, the Salt Lake Community College baseball program could've looked slow and out-of-sync against in-state rival USU Eastern.
Instead, the Bruins came out with an impressive victory as they earned a 9-5 win over the Eagles in a non-league game at Cate Field. Salt Lake scored five runs in the fifth inning, powering to the win.
Salt Lake's
Jaxson Otis scored on a sacrifice-fly RBI in the first inning, giving SLCC an early lead. While USU Eastern would take a 3-1 lead after the top of the fourth inning, the Bruins hung five runs in the home half of the inning as
Payton Freeman's RBI double keyed Salt Lake's rally.
Freeman went 2-for-5 on the day, while SLCC'sÂ
Damian Henderson went 3-of-4 and scored two runs. Salt Lake finished with 13 hits in the game.
The Bruins went through their entire pitching order, pitching nine players exactly one inning.

Salt Lake will play road games this weekend against the College of Southern Nevada. The games will count in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings.Â
