Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 2, 2018) - The Salt Lake Community College Bruins men's basketball team earned its first preseason goal last week, after clinching the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season title.
Now the Bruins are just one step away from achieving their second preseason goal - capturing the Region 18 championship to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament. Salt Lake earned a commanding 93-67 win over Snow College in a Region 18 semifinal Friday evening, powering into a matchup with the College of Southern Idaho in Saturday's championship game.
Salt Lake led 45-32 at halftime, holding the Badgers to just 34.4 percent shooting (11-of-32). SLCC's depth and presence down low minimized Snow throughout the game, as the Bruins held a 45-21 advantage in bench points and a 38-20 advantage in points-in-the-paint. Salt Lake shot 53.1 percent from the floor (34-of-64).
Josh Colon led Salt Lake with 18 points, while sophomore
Bushmen Ebet scored 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
Matt Lindsey scored 12 points off the bench, while
Alec Monson had 11 points.
Hunter Schofield and
Dalven Brushier had 10 points apiece for Salt Lake.
The Bruins will face off against Southern Idaho for the fourth time this season in Saturday's championship game. Salt Lake went 2-1 against CSI in the regular season. The Region 18 championship game is scheduled to begin 30 minutes after the completion of the Region 18 women's championship game.Â
