Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 3, 2018) - The key to winning on the road in basketball has always been rebounding and defense.
For the No. 9 Salt Lake Community College Bruins, who were facing their third-straight road game at Snow College, continuing to play at a high level became an even greater challenge as the Bruins were further and further away from home cooking. However, with the game hanging in the balance at halftime, Salt Lake powered to a strong third quarter, eventually earning a 57-53 road win to move to 6-1 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
Snow College led 27-23 at halftime, with Salt Lake shooting just 35.5 percent in the first half (11-of-31). However, the defense SLCC has built its season off came out in the third quarter as the Badgers shot just 40 percent (8-of-20). Salt Lake outscored Snow 22-11 in the period, taking a 45-38 lead into the final period.

Per usual, Salt Lake's defense contributed to a strong offensive performance as the Bruins held a 17-4 edge in points-off-turnovers on 15 turnovers and 7 steals. The defense came in handy for SLCC as neither team led by more than 8 points.
Tia Hay continued her strong play for Salt Lake, finished with 15 points - 12 points of which were scored after halftime. Jamaica Martin had a standout performance for the Bruins, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-7 field goals.
Kimauri Toia finished with 10 points.
The Bruins play one more road game before returning home next weekend. Salt Lake will play at Colorado Northwestern on Feb. 8, with a home game against Snow College on Feb. 10.Â
