TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 22, 2018) - After a week off, the Salt Lake Community College Bruins will once again take the field, playing in their final preseason tourney in Las Vegas.
With a record of 7-3 in tow, the Bruins will head to the College of Southern Nevada for a Thursday-Friday preseason tourney that feature some of the Scenic West Athletic Conference's top programs in games that won't count toward league standings. The tourney will also feature a few other programs, like recent opponent Prairie Baseball Academy. Salt Lake will play league foes Colorado Northwestern, USU Eastern and host CSN during the tourney, including Prairie Baseball Academy.
The Bruins will play CNCC at 12:00 p.m. PST on Thursday. The Spartans have started the season with a record of 2-7. Salt Lake will also play USU Eastern at 3:00 p.m. that day. The Eagles are 3-3 on the season.Â
Friday's games for the Bruins include a noon matchup with Prairie Baseball Academy. The Bruins hosted Prairie for a Valentine's Day doubleheader, earning 6-4 and 11-0 victories at Cate Field. The tourney finale for Salt Lake will take place against SWAC foe CSN, who is hosting the tourney. The longtime national contender have started the season at 11-4, with the game against SLCC scheduled for 3:00 p.m.Â
Salt Lake will open the Scenic West regular season on Mar. 2 with a four-game series at Southern Idaho.Â
