Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 22, 2018) - While unexpectedly cool temperature greeted the Salt Lake Community College Bruins in Las Vegas, the weather didn't affect the red-hot Bruins.
Salt Lake rolled to its sixth-straight victory Thursday, defeating Scenic West Athletic Conference rivals Colorado Northwestern and USU Eastern in the SWAC Preseason tourney. The games will not count towards the league standings for either program.Â
The Bruins earned an 11-5 win over the CNCC Spartans, along with an 11-2 win over USU Eastern that was called due to the run rule. Salt Lake will play a pair of games Saturday, taking on Prairie Baseball Academy and the College of Southern Nevada.
SLCC 11, CNCCÂ 5: Salt Lake's
Nick Seginowich powered the Bruins to a strong early start, hitting a solo home run in the first inning to establish a Bruin lead that would never end.
Damien Henderson hit a double in the fifth inning to help Salt Lake take a 5-2 lead. The Bruins would stretch the lead to 11-2, with
Jacob Stauffer closing out the game.
Ben Weese earned the pitching victory.
Henderson finished going 2-of-2, with the home run and two walks.Â
SLCCÂ 11, USU Eastern 2: Salt Lake's
Brady Brook scored on an inside-the-park home run, lifting the Bruins to an early lead they would never relinquish.Â
Salt Lake took a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning, with a
Tyler Dean double scoring Paxton Freeman. Dean hit another RBI double in the fifth inning to give Salt Lake a 9-2 lead.Â

Cal Beardsley closed out the game, finishing a stellar pitching outing that was started by lefty
Parker Hall. Hall had nine strikeouts in the game, with Beardsley picking up five strikeouts over two scoreless innings.Â
Damien Henderson finished going 3-for-4 in the game with a double and a triple. Dean went 2-for-3.Â
