SLCC held off USU Eastern in their first game, gaining a 4-2 victory over the Golden Eagles.
SLCC struck first in the second inning on a
Zac Willis RBI ground-out which brought
Caleb Summerhays in for the run. Willis recorded another RBI with a single to left field which scored Peterson in the fourth. Â USU Eastern scored one run in the fifth but the Bruins inched ahead with an
Austin Ovard single which brought in
Chris Fougner and SkylerMahoney putting the Bruins up by three. The Golden Eagles were able to put up one more on the Bruins but SLCC was able to secure the win.
Willis went one-for- three at the plate with two RBIs. Ovard was two-for-three with two RBIs.Â
Jason Jourdan was the winning pitcher for the Bruins going five innings allowing one run on two hits and recording four strike outs.

The Bruins came out early and secured the 9-1 win against USU Eastern in the second game.
The Bruins took the lead in the first scoring five runs, two of which came from a
Taylor Snyder single which brought in
Joe Barlow and
Chris Fougner. USU Eastern laid down one run in the third but the Bruins held them scoreless for the rest of the match-up.
Garrett Bushman went two-for-four at the plate, recording one RBI.
Zac Willis went three-for-four recording two RBIs and two runs. Barlow went two-for-four at the plate with one RBI and one run.
Michael Macove went three-for-three with one run scored. Snyder went one-for-three with one run and two RBIs.
Trenton Griffin recorded the win for SLCC going two innings, allowing one hit and striking out.
Salt Lake will return to action when they face Western Nevada College at home this weekend. Their first match-up will be Thursday at 2 p.m.
