Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, Utah- The Salt Lake Community College softball team opened season as they traveled to Henderson, Nevada to participate in the Southern Nevada Kick Off. The Bruins faced three opponents in the first day of the tournament; Scottsdale, Eastern Arizona, and Pima College.
In the first match up, SLCC defeated Scottsdale 3-1. The Bruins drew first blood scoring in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly by
KyRae Kogianes.
Raeana Gall racked up two RBIs on one hit and homered in the third inning for SLCC. The Bruins allowed one run in the fourth on an error.
Baylee Reeves struck out eight hitters, allowed no earned runs on three hits and walked one over six innings.
SLCC defeated Eastern Arizona 7-5 in the second match of the tournament.
Raeana Gall racked up two RBIs on one hit and homered in the first inning. Salt lake Community College tallied one run in each of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth. In the third, the Bruins scored on a groundout by A. Crabtree, scoring Gall. Eastern Arizona was down by four runs in the sixth before they attempted to rally back in the bottom of the seventh tallying two runs.
In the final game Saturday, the Bruins fell to Pima College 6-5 in eight innings.
KyRae Kogianes racked up two RBIs on two hits for Salt lake Community. Kogianes singled in the third inning and homered in the seventh inning. The top of the second saw SLCC take an early lead, 1-0. The bruins extended their lead to four in the top of the third but Pima was quick to answer with three runs is the bottom of the fourth. In the seventh the Bruins added a run in the top of the inning. Pima College answered with two runs of its own in the seventh, which lead to their win.
