Baseball:
SLCC Baseball Preps for Home and Away Series with USU-Eastern
Bruins are winners of 11 of last 12 games, first in SWAC standings
Salt Lake City, UT—The SLCC baseball team (21-9, 13-3 SWAC) will play four games against in-state opponent USU-Eastern (11-13) this week in non-conference action. Each team will play two of the four games in the weekend series on its home field.
The Bruins will head to Price, UT for a pair of games against the Golden Eagles on Thursday, Mar. 27 with first pitch for game one slated for Noon. Game two will begin 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first contest.
SLCC will then host USU-Eastern for a pair of games on Saturday, Mar. 29 at Cate Field in West Jordan, UT. First pitch for the day's first game is set for 1 p.m. and game two will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first match-up.

Leading the SWAC: The Bruins currently lead the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) standings ahead of second place Western Nevada College (WNC) (22-10, 7-5 SWAC). SLCC split four games with WNC to open the SWAC regular season in Carson City, NV and the two teams will next meet in a four game series at Cate Field on April 4-5.

Derrick Whitney (South Jordan, UT) with a .333 batting average. The Bingham High School graduate is tied for the team lead with sophomore infielder
Robert Grilli (Mississauga, ONT) in base hits at 35.
Whitney has seven doubles, three triples and 15 runs batted in (RBI) this season.
Grilli owns the team lead in RBI with 20 and has eight doubles, three triples and one home run with a batting average of .321 in 109 total at-bats. Bruin sophomore outfielder
Zach Watts (West Jordan, UT) leads the team in home runs with three and has a total of 13 extra-base hits this year.
The Bruin pitching staff has a combined earned run average (ERA) of 3.25 through 30 games. Among its starters, SLCC is led by sophomore pitcher
Brady Corless (Spanish Fork, UT) with an ERA of 1.93 to go with 12 strikeouts in four total appearances (two starts).

Anthony Dixon (South Jordan, UT) tied for the team lead in starts with seven each.
Jourdan has an ERA of 2.63 in seven appearances, all starts, with 24 strikeouts on the season and
Dixon has struck out 18 opposing batters in eight total appearances with an ERA of 2.91.
Salt Lake is scoring an average of 5.3 runs per game and is allowing an average of 3.8 runs per contest to its opposition.
SLCC is unbeaten at home with a record of 4-0 at Cate Field. The Bruins are 12-3 in away games and are at 5-6 in neutral-site matchups.
Softball:
Bruin Softball Readies for Four-Game Set with North Idaho College
After a 13-9 start to the season, SLCC has won seven of last 10 outings
Salt Lake City, UT—The SLCC softball team (20-12, 18-9 SWAC) has four home games on tap this week against Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent North Idaho College (NIC) (20-13, 5-9 SWAC) on Friday and Saturday, Mar 28-29 at Bruin Softball Field.
Friday's first game will begin at 1 p.m. with the day's second contest getting underway 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first matchup. First pitch for game one on Saturday is slated for Noon with game two beginning 30 minutes following the end of the first contest.
SLCC split four games with the NIC Cardinals on Feb. 7-8 in St. George, UT. The regular season series is even at 2-2.
