TWIN FALLS, ID—The SLCC Women's Basketball team (13-4, 2-0 SWAC) defeated Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival No. 6-ranked College of Southern Idaho (CSI) (13-3, 2-1 SWAC) by a final score of 70-58 on Thursday night.

The win marks the eighth consecutive victory for the Bruins, with SLCC claiming the outright lead in the SWAC standings. Salt Lake is now the only SWAC team without a loss in conference play.

The Bruins out-rebounded CSI 42-29 and held the Golden Eagles to eight offensive rebounds for the contest. SLCC had 16 offensive rebounds with assists on 17 of its 29 made baskets.

The Bruins finished at 47.5 percent shooting from the field with CSI shooting 41.8 percent for the contest. Salt Lake forced 18 CSI turnovers with the Bruins turning the ball over 15 times in the road victory.

"We played very well defensively, which was huge for us tonight," said SLCC Head Coach Betsy Specketer. "It was a solid team effort for us--the keys to tonight's game were to take care of the basketball and not allow [CSI] more than one shot. We didn't turn the ball over much and didn't allow them second chance opportunities and that's how we came in to their building and got this win."

Stats vs. CSI: SLCC sophomore forward Britney Johnson (Pleasant Grove, UT) led the Bruins with 15 points to go with seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Natalie Parsons (Bountiful, UT) added 14 points with four rebounds, one assist and two steals and freshman guard Cassidy Fraughton (American Fork, UT) turned in a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore forward Bella Swan (Farmington, UT) finished with nine points and four rebounds and sophomore guard Miranda Averett (Price, UT) turned in five points, one assist and one steal in eight minutes off the bench.
