SLCC Volleyball opens home schedule with pair of victories

Salt Lake City, UT—The No. 6-ranked SLCC Volleyball team (3-3) opened its 2013 home schedule with a pair of victories at the annual SLCC Invitational Tournament on Friday.
The Bruins won Friday's first match over No. 8-ranked Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) 3-0 by scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-22, and SLCC defeated Central Arizona College (CAZ) 3-1 by scores of 25-20, 29-27, 20-25 and 32-30 to close out the day's action.
SLCC vs. MSU-WP: Bruin sophomore outside hitter Bailee Kendall (Mt. Pleasant, UT) tallied 15 kills and freshman middle hitter Janessa Koelliker (Kaysville, UT) hit .500 for the match. Sophomore defensive specialist Indigo Allen (North Salt Lake, UT) turned in 13 digs in the winning effort.
SLCC vs. CAZ: Kendall finished with 21 kills and freshman outside hitter Carol Grasso (Sao Paulo, BRA) contributed 16 kills and 16 digs in the victory. Koelliker hit .533 and Allen finished the match with 16 digs.
Next up for Head Coach Sue Dulaney and the Bruins is a pair of home matches on Saturday, Aug. 31 at the SLCC Invitational. The Bruins will face Eastern Arizona College at 9 a.m. and will take on No. 19 Casper College at Bruin Arena with a 1 p.m. first serve.
