Bruin Baseball drops home openers to No. 7-ranked CSN

SLCC drops game one 14-7 and game two 4-3, loses two run lead in ninth inning of game two

Salt Lake City, UT—The SLCC Baseball team (12-8, 6-4 SWAC) lost a pair of games with Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent  No. 7-ranked College of Southern Nevada (CSN) (18-5. 6-0 SWAC) on Thursday. The Bruins fell 14-7 in game one and lost game two 4-3.

In game one, Bruin sophomore pitcher Justin Rupe (Bountiful, UT) took the loss with nine runs allowed on eight hits with three strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work. Sophomore catcher Bo Fisher (American Fork, UT) was 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and three RBIs. Sophomore infielder Sam Goold (St. George, UT) was 1-for 3 with a run scored and one RBI in the losing effort.

Bruin freshman pitcher Wyle Cunningham (Red Deer, Alberta) took the loss in game two with three strikeouts and four runs allowed in 2.1 innings pitched. Sophomore utility player Palmer Page (Saratoga Springs, UT) was 2-for-5 with a triple and a run scored and Fisher  was 2-for-5 with a triple and one RBI.

Next up for Head Coach DG Nelson and the Bruins is another doubleheader against CSN on Friday, Mar. 8 at Cate Field. First pitch for game one is slated for Noon.
