SLCC Baseball and Softball This Week:

SLCC Baseball to host USU-Eastern, Swing for Life events this weekend

Salt Lake City, UT—The SLCC Baseball team (22-10, 16-6 SWAC) will play a pair of home doubleheaders this weekend against in-state opponent USU-Eastern (13-11) on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 29-30 at Cate Field. First pitch for game one on Friday is slated for 1:00 p.m. and Saturday's first contest will begin at Noon.

Saturday's doubleheader will take place on the annual Swing for Life Day for Bruin Baseball. The Bruins will wear pink jerseys during the day's first game and autograph them for auction during the second contest. All proceeds raised will go directly to funding cancer research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and its new dedicated Swing for Life wing.  

SLCC defeated USU-Eastern 14-2 and 20-5 to sweep a doubleheader in Price, UT on Mar. 12. The Bruins average 6.9 runs scored per contest and are allowing an average of 4.9 runs per game to the opposition.

Bruin sophomore infielder Sam Goold (St. George, UT) leads the team with 24 RBIs and also has a team best five home runs thus far. Freshman pitcher Brady Corless (Spanish Fork, UT) has a team high 5-0 win/loss record and a current earned run average of 2.31.
 
SLCC Softball gets set for road trip to Coeur d'Alene, ID to face North Idaho College

Salt Lake City, UT—The No. 3-ranked SLCC Softball team (29-4, 23-1 SWAC) will head to Coeur d'Alene, ID for a pair of doubleheaders against Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent North Idaho College (NIC) (11-16, 8-12 SWAC) on Friday and Saturday, Mar. 29-30. Game one on Friday is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start and Saturday's first game has a Noon first pitch. Times listed are Pacific.

The Bruins swept a four game series with NIC on Feb. 8-9 in St. George, UT, outscoring the Cardinals 47-8. SLCC is averaging 7.6 runs scored per game and has allowed an average of 2.1 runs per outing.

Bruin sophomore pitcher MaCauley Flint (Roy, UT) has a 14-2 win/loss record in 13 starts and has an earned run average of 0.65 in 21 total appearances. Flint has struck out 159 opposing batters for an average of 12.2 strikeouts per start.

Sophomore infielder Maddy Woodard (Murray, UT) leads the Bruins with 45 RBIs thus far and is hitting for a .358 average in 106 at-bats. Woodard has eight doubles, one triple and four home runs so far this season.
