Bruin Baseball picks up doubleheader sweep of CNCC, wins series 4-0

Bruins top Spartans 11-1 and 9-7 in day two doubleheader, stretch win streak to seven games

Salt Lake City, UT—The SLCC Baseball team (19-9, 13-5 SWAC) picked up a pair of home victories over Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Colorado Northwestern CC (1-13, 1-13 SWAC) on Saturday, winning game one 11-1 and game two 9-7. The Bruins had 24 total hits for the day and outscored CNCC 38-13 to sweep the four game weekend series. SLCC has won seven straight ballgames.

Sophomore pitcher Skylar Janisse (Maidstone, Ontario) earned the game one win with four strikeouts and one earned run allowed in five innings of work. Freshman infielder Robert Grilli (Mississauga, Ontario) was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a stolen base, a run scored and three RBIs. Sophomore catcher Bo Fisher (American Fork, UT) was 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored and freshman outfielder Connor Williams (South Jordan, UT) was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI.

In game two, sophomore pitcher Justin Rupe (Bountiful, UT) picked up the win in 1.2 innings of relief. Sophomore outfielder Steven Adam (Tecumseh, Ontario) was 1-for-3 at the plate with a triple and two RBIs and Williams was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and two RBIs. Sophomore utility player Palmer Page (Saratoga Springs, UT) was 2-for-2 with two runs scored in the winning effort.

Next up for Head Coach DG Nelson and the Bruins is a doubleheader with SWAC rival College of Southern Idaho (16-15, 5-7 SWAC) on Friday, Mar. 22 at Cate Field. Game one will get underway at 1:00 p.m.
