EPHRAIM, UT—The
No. 14-ranked SLCC Men's Basketball team (12-1, 1-0 SWAC) opened its 2013 Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) schedule with a double-digit road victory over in-state rival Snow College (7-6, 0-1 SWAC) on Saturday. The win marks the seventh consecutive victory for the Bruins.
SLCC out-rebounded Snow College 38-34 and shot 36.2 percent from the field. The Bruins held the Badgers to 28.6 percent shooting for the contest. SLCC went 4-for-12 from three point range with Snow College making six of its 18 attempts from beyond the arc. The Bruins made 22 of 29 free throws with the Badgers making 12 of 17 attempts.
"Any win for us out here in Ephraim is a big win for our program," said SLCC Assistant Coach
Paul Marble. "Road wins in our league come at a premium, Snow College always plays us tough and to start the conference season with a road victory over these guys is a big deal."

Gary Payton II (Las Vegas, NV) finished with 13 points and six rebounds. Freshman guard
De'Sean Parsons (Sacramento, CA) added 13 points and four rebounds and freshman forward
Neal Monson (Sandy, UT) turned in six points and 13 rebounds.
Bruin sophomore guard
Aquavius Young (Decator, GA) scored eight points to go with five rebounds and sophomore forward
Kurtis Toolson (Gilbert, AZ) added eight points and four rebounds.

No. 15 Monroe College (10-0) on Friday, Dec. 27 at 4 p.m. The Fiesta JC Shootout follows a championship-consolation format.
