SALT LAKE CITY, UT—The No. 6-ranked SLCC Volleyball team (17-6, 5-0 SWAC) fell to non-conference opponent No. 5-ranked Western Wyoming Community College (WWCC) (24-4, 8-0 Region IX North) on Tuesday night at Bruin Arena. The Bruins dropped a 3-1 decision to the Mustangs by scores of 21-25, 25-18, 19-25 and 20-25.

The loss ends a five-match win streak for the Bruins, though the team remains in first place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) standings as the only unbeaten team in league play. WWCC moves its win streak to 11 matches with the road victory. The loss is the first for the Bruins on their home floor this year.

Stats vs. WWCC: SLCC freshman outside hitter Carol Grasso (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led all players with 16 kills in the match. Sophomore middle hitter Janessa Koelliker (Kaysville, UT) added 10 kills and sophomore outside hitter Bailee Kendall (Mt. Pleasant, UT) also tallied 10 kills in the contest. Sophomore setter Baylie Henrie (Kaysville, UT) had 41 assists in the losing effort.

Head Coach Sue Dulaney and the Bruins will resume SWAC play with a home match against in-state rival No. 16-ranked Snow College (14-7, 2-3 SWAC) on Saturday, Oct. 19 with a 1 p.m. first serve at Bruin Arena. The Bruins will wear pink in Saturday's contest and will be raising funds alongside the Swing for Life Foundation in support of cancer awareness and the fight against breast cancer. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the event.
