SLCC Men's Basketball dominates rival Southern Idaho for 11th straight victory

Bruins jump out to early lead and never look back, stay unbeaten in SWAC play

Salt Lake City, UT—The SLCC Men's Basketball team (15-2, 3-0 SWAC) defeated Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival College of Southern Idaho (13-5, 1-3 SWAC) 89-73 on Saturday at Bruin Arena. The Bruins jumped out to a 10-0 lead early and the Eagles were never able to close the gap as SLCC coasted to its 11th straight win. The Bruins are the only unbeaten team in the conference.

SLCC shot 54.1% from the field and was 18-for-22 from the foul line, leading by as many as 21 points in the victory.

Bruin sophomore guard Skyler Halford (Orem, UT) led all scorers with 25 points, scoring 25 for the second consecutive contest. Sophomore guard Tyrell Corbin (Salt Lake City, UT) tallied 15 points and had four assists and sophomore forward JuWan Buchanan (Seattle, WA) added 15 points as well in the winning effort.

Next up for Head Coach Todd Phillips and the Bruins is a road matchup with USU-Eastern on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Price, UT. The Bruins will play five straight road contests before a home matchup with CNCC on Jan. 31.
