Henderson, NV—The No. 17-ranked SLCC Baseball team (0-1) lost its opening day contest to Yavapai College 11-2 at the Coyote Border Battle. The Bruins led early 2-0 but trailed 4-2 heading into the fifth inning. Late-game offense from Yavapai added seven more runs to seal the victory in a nine inning contest.

Bruin sophomore infielder JC Snyder (Salem Hills, UT) was 3-3 at the plate, tallying two doubles and one run scored in the losing effort. Freshman infielder Robert Grilli (Mississauga, ONT) went 2 for 4 with the bat and sophomore pitcher Rhett Parkinson (Wellsville, UT) threw four innings of shutout baseball with four strikeouts.

Next up for Head Coach DG Nelson and the Bruins is a matchup with Cochise College on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 10:00 a.m. in Henderson, NV.
