The SLCC Men's and Women's Basketball teams will take on in-state rival Snow College on Saturday, Jan. 19 in Ephraim, UT. Both teams bring win streaks with them into this weekend's contests, and the matchups with the Badgers back on Dec. 15 were both exciting and close ballgames. No. 18 SLCC WBB @ Snow College
The
No. 18-ranked SLCC Women's team (12-6, 3-2 SWAC) has won two straight games heading into Saturday's 3:00 p.m. bout with the Snow College Badgers (8-11, 2-3 SWAC). The Bruins fell to Snow College 67-64 at Bruin Arena in the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opener at Bruin Arena on Dec. 15.
The Bruins were even in rebounding in that game, with both teams grabbing 40 boards overall. SLCC had five more personal fouls (19-14) in the game and had nine more assists than Snow College at 21-12 and even outshot the Badgers 41.3% to 40.0% in the losing effort.
Sophomore center
Rachel Morris (Mesquite, NV) turned in a double-double against the Badgers, scoring 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting and also grabbing 10 rebounds. Bruin freshman guard
Natalie Parsons (Bountiful, UT) added 13 points on 3-for-9 from three point range and sophomore guard
Katie Richens (Roosevelt, UT) scored seven points in the losing effort.
The SLCC Women are scoring 61.7 points per game, led by
Morris with 12.4 points per outing. Second on the team in scoring are
Richens and
Parsons with 9.2 points each per contest. The Bruins are allowing just 54.7 points per game to the opposition on average. SLCC has won three of its last five games and is currently 5-1 in true away games this season. The matchup with Snow College marks the third straight road game for the Bruins.

No. 15 SLCC MBB @ Snow College
The
No. 15-ranked SLCC Men's team (17-2, 5-0 SWAC) is currently on a 13-game win streak heading into Saturday's 5:00 p.m. game against in-state rival Snow College (15-4, 3-2 SWAC) in Ephraim, UT. SLCC defeated Snow 74-70 back on Dec. 15 at Bruin Arena in the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opener.
The Bruins held a 38-33 advantage at the halftime break, and held on down the stretch for the conference win. Despite being outrebounded by the Badgers 36-33, having five more personal fould and being outscored 37-36 in the second frame, the Bruins picked up the big win behind a 47.5% field goal percentage and six three point baskets made on 15 attempts.
SLCC sophomore guard
Skyler Halford (Orem, UT) led all scorers with 23 points the first time these teams met this year, and redshirt freshman forward
Sai Tummala (Phoenix, AZ) added 11 points in the winning effort. Sophomore guard
Tyrell Corbin (Salt Lake City, UT) tallied 10 points, and the West High graduate notched seven rebounds as the Bruins opened the SWAC season with a home win.
The SLCC Men are currently the only team without a loss in conference play and own the ninth longest winning streak in the nation. The Bruins are averaging 87.6 points scored per contest, led by
Halford with 19.1 points per game. Second on the team in scoring is
Tummala with 14.4 points per ballgame. The Bruins are allowing just 60.3 points per game to the opposition thus far this season.
The Bruins are currently 7-1 away from the friendly confines of Bruin Arena and haven't lost a game since back on Nov. 20 when they fell 94-84 in double overtime to then
No. 4-ranked Indian Hills College. SLCC's average margin of victory during this 13-game streak is 16.7 points.
