No. 8-ranked
Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Women's Volleyball team (13-1) downed
10th-
ranked Western Wyoming CC (WWCC) (6-7) in four sets at Bruin Arena, 25-20, 22-25, 25-14 and 25-20. SLCC defeated WWCC for the second time this season and sixth time in the last seven meetings between the two schools. The win gives SLCC its
eighth straight victory and could vault them into the NJCAA Top 5 this week.
SLCC sophomore outside hitter
Maddie Bushman (Tucson, AZ) led the Bruins with 15 kills and also turned in 7 digs. Outside hitter
Bailee Kendall (Mt. Pleasant, UT) had 13 kills, and freshman
Camry Godfrey (Layton, UT) put a season-high 12 kills down in the victory.
Sophomore setter
Cortney Godfrey (West Jordan, UT) handed out 53 assists on the evening, and the Bingham High School graduate also tallied three kills. The Bruins used eight team blocks on the day to deny the WWCC Mustangs an opportunity to rally in set four.
Next up for SLCC Volleyball is a trip to Sterling, CO for the Pizza Hut Invitational. The Bruins will take on the only team that has beaten them so far in 2012, Western Nebraska CC on Saturday.
