Bruin Baseball Avoids the Sweep

HENDERSON, Nevada (April 3, 2010) – The SLCC baseball team lost three games to Southern Nevada 2-10, 0-7 & 1-4 but managed to take the final game 3-2.  The Bruins are now 21-11 overall and are firmly in third place in the SWAC with a 12-7 record. 

Zack Swasey was 2-4 with a triple in game one while Alex Exon was 2-3 with an RBI.  James Mahler got the loss allowing eight runs over three innings of work.  The tough Southern Nevada pitching only allowed three hits while striking out 16 Bruins at the plate.  Kasey Carling was 1-3 with a triple.  Tyson Memmott threw six strong innings in the game three loss.  The Salt Lake bats shutdown with four hits.  In the final game of the weekend, Kasey Carling was 2-4 and Duncan Blades hit a two RBI double to help put the Bruins on top with the 3-2 win. 

Salt Lake (21-11, 12-7 SWAC) will head over to Rangley, Colorado to face Colorado Northwestern (3-28, 0-20 SWAC) on April 9th and 10th
