SALT LAKE CITY (February 27, 2010) – The fifth ranked Lady Bruins finished up the regular season with a tight win over Snow College 79-76. Salt Lake held a one point lead with 3.3 seconds left as Haley Holmstead was sent to the line for two shots. Holmstead hit the clutch free throws to seal the win for Salt Lake. The Bruins now head into the SWAC Regional Tournament as the number one seed with a record of 16-4 in conference play and 24-5 overall.
Five Bruins finished in double figures with Allie Blake leading the way scoring 22 points on 9 of 15 shooting. Haley Holmstead added 16 points and Sheila Adams finished with 10. Off the bench Jamie Mokofisi was a perfect 5 of 5 from the field for 13 points and Mina Jovanovic had 11 points.
No. 5 Salt Lake (24-5, 16-4 SWAC) will receive a first round bye at the Region 18 Tournament held at the College of Eastern Utah in Price, Utah. Tournament play begins on March 4th-6th.
