TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Sunday, March 17, 2024)— No. 12 Salt Lake (18-5, 10-2) swept visiting USU Eastern, outscoring the Eagles 51-14 in four games. 

The Bruins lead the Scenic West Athletic Conference by half a game over Southern Idaho. 

Game One
SLCC 17 | USU E 4

Shelbee Jones got the win in the circle and Lexie Shaver homered twice in a tone-setting Bruins win. 

Jones gave up one hit and struck out eight of the 11 batters she faced in three innings. 

Salt Lake's middle-of-the-order of Bailey Marvin, Jones, and Shaver pounded out seven hits, nine RBI, and scored six runs. Shaver led the way with a 3-3 performance and five RBI. 

Game Two
SLCC 13 | USU E 2

A first-inning error helped the Eagles take a brief lead, but SLCC scored runs in each of the first four innings to blow the game open. 

Mikayla Jankovic won, tossing four innings of three-hit ball while striking out four. 

Marvin and Jettlee Ioane each homered, and the Bruins had six extra-base hits. Kendyl Purdy stole three bases, increasing her team-high total to 19 stolen bags over the weekend.  

Game Three
SLCC 6 | USU E 5

Bailey Marvin hit two more long balls, and Tiffany Hermansen went the distance to win the weekend's tightest game. 

Hermansen gave up eight hits and worked around three Bruin errors, allowing five runs with only two earned. The sophomore pitcher struck out eight in the seven-inning complete game.

Marvin finished with three RBI, reaching base in all four plate appearances. 

Game Four
SLCC 15 | USU E 3

Salt Lake left no doubt in the series' final game, scoring ten first-inning runs to put USU E away early. 

Nakiya Seeley gave up three runs on five hits in four innings to earn the win.

Bailey Marvin capped a five home run weekend with two hits and three RBI, including a long ball.

Aubree Leonard hit a pair of two-run homers in the win.
